My Baby!

My sweet Jenna graduated from the Aveda Institute today! Jenna is the youngest of our 3 children and this is such an accomplishment for her.  We are so proud of her and excited for her to begin the next phase in her life.  This is just one more stepping stone on the road to her independence and I can’t help but think back to the all the other milestones along her life’s journey. How can it be 21 years since this tiny daughter was placed in my arms? After two rough and rowdy, though much loved boys, I was so excited to have a precious little girl to dress in ruffles and bows.  Instead of dump trucks and scabbed knees, it was dolls and tea parties. Compromises were made and boys playing princess dress up was involved… but they all learned to play together.  Believe me, even though she was the baby, she learned to hold her own (rowdy brothers are a blessing in disguise).  Jenna faced some serious childhood illness, several surgeries, and some difficult challenges while growing up, but she rose up to meet every challenge with a tenacity that belied her tiny size and she showed us there was nothing she could not do when she set her mind to it!  Today at her graduation ceremony, so many of her instructors talked about her smile and her can-do attitude.  What I have learned from my daughter is that life can be very sweet, even when it is hard,

Congrats! You rocked it!

sometimes even more so because overcoming adversity makes you appreciate what you have gained all the more.  Exciting times are ahead for both this mom and my sweet daughter, I’m looking forward to the adventure!

In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:37-39, NIV
